Our WJ and WK, XK Front Tow Hitch Receiver w/ Shackle Tabs are built with A572 Grade-50 steel which is also used in building beams. It's welded to 1/4" plates and two 1/4" thick gussets. The Center tube is a 2" x 2" by .188 wall thickness. We weld MULTI-pass on all contact points of the 3/4" shackle tab plate. Mounted to your frame rails with Grade-8 hardware and frame sandwich plates which are also 1/4" thick. Take Recovery Seriously!!!
(WJ) The mounting plate is constructed from 1/4" Plate and has three mounting holes to the underside of the WJ's uni-body frame-rail. Mounts to factory holes, no drilling required. Minor grinding required under uni-body frame-rail. To mount behind Limited bumpers you must cut off the two center plastic pieces to amke enough room for the 2" receiver.
(WK and XK) The mounting plate is constructed from 1/4" Plate and has four mounting holes to the underside of the WK's/XK's uni-body frame-rail. Mounts to three factory holes plus one additional hole deep back into the frame-rail, one hole drilling required per side.
The Shackle Tab is constructed of 3/4" thick x 7" length Grade-50 Steel and is welded to the 1/4" plate all around with two gussets on the side. The shackle tab has a 7/8"" hole for D-Ring Shackles. These are the same shackle tabs we use on our winch mounts and bumpers.
Grade 50 is a high strength, low alloy steel that finds its best application where there is need for more strength per unit of weight. Less of this material is needed to fulfill given strength requirements than is necessary with regular carbon steels.
Grade 50 is used in general plate applications when the plate will be riveted, bolted, or welded. Grade 50 is a Columbium-Vanadium steel that offers a minimum yield of 50,000 PSI. In addition, ASTM A572 Grade 50 is noted for its increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Grade 50 contains more alloying elements than plain carbon steel and thus is somewhat more difficult to form. Grade 50 is more difficult to cold work, but can be successfully bent or shaped but requires more force than plain carbon steel.
ASTM A572 Grade 50 is considered a "workhorse" grade and is widely used in many applications. Steel mills produce channel and heavy beams with Grade 50. It is commonly used in structural applications, heavy construction equipment, building structures, heavy duty anchoring systems, truck frames, poles, liners, conveyors, boom sections, structural steel shapes, and applications that require high strength per weight ratio.

Ford Bronco 2021+ Rear Tow Hitch w/ Shackle Tabs (Rated Class III 5,000-lbs Towing)
Regular price $ 538.00 Save $ 0.00Officially Rated as a Class III 5,000-lbs Capacity Tow Hitch, in accordance with SAE J684-2014 test procedures.
Engineered specifically for the Ford Bronco 2021+, this premium rear tow hitch offers serious strength and versatility for both towing and off-road recovery. Crafted with heavy-duty materials, integrated shackle tabs and a full-frame mounting design, it delivers more robust performance than the factory hitch and is rated for Class III duty (5,000 lb), SAE J684 Compliant.
Class III Rating – 5,000 lb Towing Capacity: Built and tested to meet SAE J684-2014 procedures to ensure reliable towing performance.
Full-Frame Tie-In Design: Utilizes all eight factory mounting points on the rear cross-member of the vehicle, providing maximum structural support for towing and recovery.
Welded Heavy-Duty Construction:
Left and Right shackle tabs: ¾″-thick steel plates welded to the base ¼″ mounting plate.
Centre tube: 2″ square tube with .188″ (3/16″) wall thickness, welded to both shackle tabs and the original hitch mounting points.
Hitch receiver welded through the 2″ tube and the center mounting C-channel plate.
Included Hardware: High-strength Class 10.9 bolts are included for all mounting points. HK Offroad
No Drilling or Cutting Required: Designed to bolt directly into the factory mounting locations—easy to install for competent DIY or professional install.
Recovery-Ready Design: Incorporates substantial welded shackle tabs to support traditional D-ring / bow-shackle style recovery gear—ideal for serious off-road use.
Fitment Note: Designed specifically for standard Bronco 2021+ models; does not fit the tiny Sport model.
Superior to Factory: Many owners of the Bronco report that the factory hitch is undersized for serious recovery or towing and the rear factory cross-memeber is prone to buckling. One user: “Hitch is built like a tank. Wife was shocked at what Ford installed.”
Dual-Purpose Utility: Whether towing trailers, carrying gear, or performing vehicle recovery in remote terrain, this hitch offers a trustworthy anchor point.
Frame-Tied Performance: Unlike hitch units that only attach to sheet-metal or bracketry, this design ties into the frame cross-member and frame-rails, significantly increasing strength and stiffness.
Raw Finish: Welds are substantial and hitch is shipped raw steel, ready for you to paint-match your color scheme. Raw steel products also show it's full structural integrity and quality in fabrication.
Although designed for direct-fit installation, tight tolerances are reported by some users. Start with the center four bolts and leave them loose. Then begin bolting up driver side frame followed by the passenger side frame. The frame mounting points should be torqued to 60-ft/lbs. The center Grade-8 hardware 82-ft/lbs
Once installed, ensure all bolts are torqued to spec and check periodically if used for recovery operations.
Fits: Ford Bronco 2021+ (non-Sport model)
Towing rating: Class III (5,000 lb)
Material & construction: Steel; ¾″ shackle tabs → welded to base plate, 2″ x .188″ cross-tube for receiver support

Owners of the 2021+ Ford Bronco looking for a serious upgrade over factory hitch hardware.
Off-road enthusiasts who use their vehicle for recovery operations and want welded shackle tabs integrated into their hitch.
Towing users who need the full 5,000 lb rating with a durable, frame-mounted solution.
DIY installers comfortable with hitch installation — though due to tight tolerances, professional install is also a good option.
If you’re looking to transform your Bronco’s rear hitch from “factory minimal” to robust multi-purpose anchor point for towing and recovery, this HK Offroad unit is built with purpose. Heavy-duty materials, full frame integration, welded shackle tabs and a 5,000 lb rating make it a compelling upgrade. While installation may require patience and slight adjustment, the strength and utility you gain make it well worth consideration.
